  • Through our platforms (including cookies and analytics tools)
  • From identity verification providers (including GBG GreenID)
  • From credit reporting bodies and fraud prevention agencies
  • From government databases via authorised intermediaries
  • From third-party service providers and publicly available sources

PURPOSES OF COLLECTION

We collect, use and disclose personal information for the following purposes:

  • To provide wagering services and manage your account
  • To verify your identity
  • To comply with legal and regulatory obligations, including under the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (Cth)
  • To conduct fraud detection, risk management and security monitoring
  • To undertake sanctions screening and source of funds checks

IDENTITY VERIFICATION (GREENID AND DVS)

We use GBG’s GreenID service, which is an approved Gateway Service Provider (GSP) and formally appointed as our Information Match Agent, to verify your identity.

How this works:

  • You provide identification details (e.g. name, date of birth, document details)
  • This information is submitted to GreenID
  • GreenID, as an authorised Gateway Service Provider, may connect to the Australian Government’s Document Verification Service (DVS) and other official data sources to verify your identity. Your information is matched against official records
  • A verification result (e.g. match / no match) is returned to us

Important disclosures:

  • Bearbet does not directly access the DVS
  • Identity verification is conducted via GreenID as an authorised intermediary
  • Your personal information may be disclosed to:
    • GBG GreenID
    • Government agencies via the DVS
    • Credit reporting bodies and other authorised data sources
  • We receive verification outcomes, not underlying government records

Legal basis:

This process is required to:

  • Comply with AML/CTF obligations
  • Prevent fraud and identity misuse
  • Meet licensing and regulatory requirements

Identity Verification Consent

By proceeding with identity verification, you expressly consent to Bearbet collecting, using and disclosing your personal information (including your name, date of birth and identification document details) to GBG’s GreenID service for the purpose of verifying your identity.

  • You understand that GreenID is an authorised Gateway Service Provider and may disclose your information to the Australian Government’s Document Verification Service (DVS) and other official record holders to confirm your identity.
  • You understand that your information will be checked against government records and that a “match” or “no match” result will be provided to Bearbet. Bearbet does not receive the underlying government records.
  • You acknowledge that this process is required for compliance with legal obligations, including anti-money laundering and identity verification requirements.
  • If you do not consent to this identity verification process, we will be unable to open or maintain an account for you or provide wagering services.
